Two-man technology team The Bakery, which has worked on animated film blockbusters including Shrek and Madagascar, has secured a $2.3m investment for its software group.
Arnauld Lamorlette and Erwan Maigret established The Bakery, a specialist in computer-animated films and industries utilising visualisation tools, in 2007.
France-based Viveris Management, 123Venture, Jean-Charles Hourcade and shareholders Arnauld Lamorlette and Erwan Maigret provided $1.3m of the investment, while French OSEO innovation and CNC injected an extra $1m into the firm.
Hourcade, who will now act as chairman of the The Bakery's board, said that the company is an example of the "excellence of the French touch" within the computer animation industry.
He added that he was pleased to welcome Viveris Management and 123Venture to the board, and would join forces with them "to become a major player in the 3D animation and 3D imagery industry worldwide".
