Clifford Chance poaches Ashurst's Xavier Comaills
Ashurst partner Xavier Comaills is set to join Clifford Chance and head the firm's fund structuring practice in Paris.
Four Ashurst lawyers will follow Comaills to strengthen Clifford Chance's Paris team, according to a source close to the situation.
Comaills set up Ashurst's fund formation practice in France and has led it since 2008. Prior to that he worked at SJ Berwin and helped set up the firm's Paris office in 2001.
At Ashurst, Comaills most recently worked on the €60m first close of Industries & Finances' third fund, as well as the sale of Groupama Private Equity to ACG Group.
Meanwhile, it emerged yesterday that Clifford Chance's global private equity head David Walker is leaving the firm to join Latham & Watkins.
