BDC backs C2S MBO
Bridgepoint Development Capital has acquired a 51% stake in French clinics operator Compagnie Stéphanoise de Santé (C2S) for an undisclosed amount.
The deal was funded via Bridgepoint Development Capital I, a mid-market vehicle launched in 2009 with a £300m target. Management holds the remainder of the shares.
The fresh funding allowed C2S to acquire a new establishment, Clinique du Parc, located in Lyon.
BDC was attracted by the strong growth prospects of the private clinics market in France. It believes C2S will now be able to consolidate its position in the short- and medium-term stay market, and become a major player in the French private hospital sector.
Founded in 2005 through the formation of three clinics and the subsequent addition of further facilities between 2006 and 2011, C2S now operates ten clinics in the Rhônes-Alpes region. The company employs 1,350 staff and posted a €110m turnover in 2010.
