Unigrains invests in Deleplanque
Agri-food and agro-industrial specialist Unigrains has taken a minority stake in French seed producer Deleplanque.
The owning family will retain a majority stake in the group.
With Unigrains's support, Deleplanque aims to grow its production capacity and increase the distribution of its products. It also intends to introduce seed varieties such as oilseed, and vegetable, bird and organic seeds.
Company
Established in the mid-19th century, Deleplanque is a family business active in three segments: the production of seeds (sugar beets, hybrid cereals and rapeseed); the distribution of seeds in France on behalf of large seed companies; and the distribution of industrial byproducts (potash, vinasse) related to the activity.
Based in Maisons-Laffite near Paris, Deleplanque manages three seed factories in Manosque, Villefollet and Lierville, and has partnered with a network of 500 farmers. The group currently has sales of nearly €50m and 50 employees, according to a statement by the company.
