Aurelius acquires majority stake in catamaran maker Privilège
Aurelius has bought a majority stake in French luxury boat maker Privilège.
With the exception of CEO Gilles Wagner, who will remain in office, all previous owners have sold their shares.
Aurelius plans to merge certain operations with its current portfolio company HanseYachts, with the new investment allowing HanseYachts to enter the high-growth catamaran market. However, Privilège will continue to operate as an independent brand.
The deal is Aurelius's second this year after the buyout of UK-based Warehouse Express in March. The balance-sheet investor currently has 26 companies on its books.
Aurelius declined to disclose the value of the deal.
Company
Privilège is a premium catamaran builder based in Les Sables d'Olonne on the French Atlantic coast. Since the company was founded in 1985, more than 800 Privilège yachts have been sold in sizes ranging from 12-23 metres.
