
Nordian sells Unicorn Grain Specialties to trade
Dutch GP Nordian Capital Partners has sold a majority stake in French ingredients producer Unicorn Grain Specialties to French peer Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients.
Nordian, previously known as Rabo Capital, acquired a majority stake in Unicorn Grain Specialties in 2013, investing alongside management. The business was previously owned by Dutch GP Nimbus and ING Corporate Investments.
Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients, founded in 2002 and based in Riom, develops ingredients related to cereals for the food industry. It generated a turnover of around €100m in 2017, counts six industrial sites in France and has more than 250 employees. It is the cereals division of the Limagrain group, an international agricultural cooperative, specialising in field seeds, vegetable seeds and cereal products. Crédit Agricole, BPI France and Unigrains are minority shareholders of the Limagrain group.

Founded in 1906, Unicorn Grain Specialties develops and produces natural ingredients made from grains, seeds and legumes for snacks and bakery products. With a workforce of 100 people, the business is based in Weert and has facilities in Germany.
The combined revenues of Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients and Unicorn Grain Specialties will amount to €150m, according to a source close to the situation.
