BPI France sells G2Mobility to trade
BPI France has sold its stake in G2Mobility, a French provider of electric vehicle charging services, to listed energy giant Total.
Total wholly acquired the company from BPI France and France-based cabling and connectivity services provider Nexans.
The transaction is part of Total's intention to expand into new energy for tranportation. It follows the acquisition of Netherlands-based PitPoint in 2017 and the purchase of a 25% stake in Clean Energy in the US this year.
Previous funding
Innovacom, via the Technocom2 vehicle, and CDC Climat invested in the business in 2013. A year later, historical backers and BPI France injected €2m into the business.
In 2016, the business secured a €2.7m round from cabling and connectivity services provider Nexans, BPI France and Innovacom.
Company
Founded in 2009 and based in Vélizy-Villacoublay, G2Mobility develops and markets charging services, with connected charging stations operated by a web platform that can remotely control the charge points and offer services, notably smart energy management systems.
G2Mobility supports municipal governments and private businesses. The company claims a market share of more than 25% of charging points for local governments, and reports growth in revenues of more than 50% last year.
