Impala exits Electropoli in sale to Trail
Paris-based private equity firm Trail has acquired surface treatments company Electropoli from France-based Impala.
China Synergy Fund, managed by China International Capital Corporation (CICC), also invested in the company alongside TPG Capital and Electropoli's management.
Trail announced the launch of a Euro-Asian investment platform with CICC and China-based investment fund Silk Road Fund. Through this platform, Trail plans to facilitate the growth of European companies in the fund in China.
In addition, the firm announced the first close of its Value Trail fund on €150m in January 2019. The fund makes investments in small and mid-size companies located in France and Germany.
Previous funding
21 Centrale Partners and BNP Paribas Développement backed a €5m round of institutional funding to support the development of Electropoli in 2003.
Impala purchased the company as part of a financial and capital restructuring in 2013.

Electropoli has more than 1,100 employees and operates seven manufacturing sites in France, the Czech Republic and Poland, as well as one research and development centre based in France. Electropoli serves the premium automotive, aerospace, defence and energy industries with a comprehensive range of metal treatment products and services, including chemical coatings, hot dip galvanising and industrial painting. The company was founded in 1954.
