Experienced Capital holds first close on €70m for ECP II
French GP Experienced Capital has collected €70m for its second fund, Experienced Capital Partners II (ECP II), towards its €150m target.
The GP's maiden fund, Experienced Capital Partners, held a final close on €78m in 2016 and is now fully deployed. Its last investment was for a 51% stake in L:A Bruket, the Sweden-based natural and organic skincare brand, acquired in Q2 2019
Investors
Although the maiden fund was mostly backed by family offices and high-net-worth individuals, the GP was keen on attracting more institutional investors during the fundraise for ECP II, Unquote reported earlier this year.
Investments
The GP focuses on affordable luxury brands operating in the retail and digital space, backing businesses related to fashion, accessories, beauty, jewellery, home equipment, children's goods and food.
Experienced Capital's maiden fund took part in late-stage rounds, as well as growth capital transactions, generally providing equity tickets in the €5-20m range.
However, ECP II will provide equity tickets of €10-30m. The second generation fund will acquire either minority or majority stakes in companies valued at €10-100m.
The fund inked its first investment this summer, acquiring a 41% stake in France-based Oh My Cream!, a beauty store focused on skin care.
