Sofinnova promotes Krel to partner
France-based venture capital investor Sofinnova Partners has promoted Michael Krel to partner in its industrial biotechnology team.
Krel joined Sofinnova as a senior associate in 2013 and has since been involved in the venture capital firm's investment activities in industrial biotech. Prior to his promotion, he served as principal in the industrial biotechnology team, where he focused on early-stage deals in Europe and North America.
Before joining Sofinnova, Krel worked in industrial biotech startups for six years. During this time, he held business development positions and was a consultant focused on R&D, strategic and organisational issues.
The VC's industrial biotech franchise is dedicated to startups with a specific emphasis on synthetic biology, food, animal feed, agriculture, materials and chemicals. It currently has €200m in assets under management.
