UI Gestion backs packaging manufacturer Sopac Medical
Private equity firm UI Gestion, alongside Caisse d'Epargne Ile-de-France Capital Investissement (CEIDF) and IRD Gestion, has acquired French packaging specialist Sopac Medical from Turenne Sante and A Plus Finance.
Crédit Agricole Brie Picardie and LCL provided a debt package to finance the deal.
With the support of its new investors, Sopac intends to further consolidate its market position in France, expand internationally and pursue an intense buy-and-build strategy, while broadening its product offering.
The sale ends a five-year holding period for Turenne Santé and A Plus, which acquired the business from the founding family, with managing director Fabrice Beauquesne co-investing in the deal. Turenne Santé provided approximately two thirds of the equity financing, while the remainder came from A Plus.
Turenne invested via Turenne Santé 1, a healthcare-focused fund that writes cheques in the €3-10m region. A Plus deployed part of its investment from Transmission Partenaires fund, a small-cap LBO-focused vehicle.
Under the ownership of Turenne and A Plus, the company grew and increased its revenues from around €2m in 2014 to €6m in 2019.
Company
Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Goussainville, Sopac manufactures plastic packaging for the healthcare and cosmetics industries.
The company expects to generate revenues of €6.5m in 2020, with a 15% increase on 2019.
