CapDecisif closes third fund on €45m
CapDecisif Management has held a final close for its new Ile-de-France-focused venture fund, CapDecisif 3, on €45m.
The fund launched in 2012 and held its first close in February last year on €36m, according to unquote" data. The vehicle originally had a target of €50m.
According to unquote" data, Jasmin Capital acted as the fund's placement agent while Stephenson Harwood and Scotto & Associés were appointed as legal advisers for CapDecisif 3.
The vehicle's predecessor, CapDecisif 2, closed on €25m.
Investors
The fund is mainly supported by state-backed BPI France via the €600m Fonds National d'Amorçage fund-of-funds. BPI France supplied €25m to the vehicle.
CapDecisif 3 is also backed by the Ile-de-France regional government, which committed €15m to the fund. BNP Paribas, Agrica Partners, regional fund-of-funds Revital'Emploi and French health insurance firm Société Hospitalière d'Assurances Mutuelles are the fund's other subscribers.
At the time of the fund's first close, insurance firms had committed 5.55% of the €36m raised, while BPI supplied 48.26%, local governments provided 41.6%, funds-of-funds supplied 1.66% and pension funds provided 2.77%.
Investments
The fund will make investments of €500,000-6m in Ile-de-France-based start-ups, with the hope of backing around 15 companies throughout its investment period.
The fund's target sectors are life sciences, biotechnology, information & communications technology, environment and energy.
CapDecisif 3 has already made five investments totalling €5.7m. The fund's portfolio includes AlephD, in which CapDecisif 3 invested €1.5m with Partech Ventures and A Plus Finance in November last year; and Gecko Biomedical, which raised €8m in December from CapDecisif, Omnes Capital and CM-CIC Capital Finance.
