Omnes and Demeter exit Methaneo
Omnes Capital (formerly Crédit Agricole Private Equity) and Demeter Partners have sold their joint 60% stake in Methaneo, a French developer of bio-methanisation solutions, to trade player Séchilienne Sidec.
Omnes (then Crédit Agricole Private Equity) and Demeter Partners invested €1.5m each in Methaneo in 2008. Omnes invested via its FCPR Capenergie fund, while Demeter made the first investment from its fund FCPR Demeter 2.
Following the sale, the two Methaneo founders will retain a 40% stake in the business – they were keen on partnering with an industrial player to further drive the company's development. Meanwhile Séchilienne Sidec was attracted by rapid growth in the market for energy generated from by-products of the agricultural industry.
Company
Established in 2007, Methaneo specialises in the development and funding of local methanisation projects using biomass generated by farming and agribusiness.
People
Serge Savasta led the deal for Omnes Capital. Yann Mercier and Sébastien Couzy are co-founders of Methaneo.
