Activa-backed La Maison Bleue bolts on Crèches Baby
French childcare nursery group La Maison Bleue, which is backed by Activa Capital, has acquired day-care nursery chain Crèches Baby & Co from its parent company Delfingen.
The acquisition will allow La Maison Bleue to expand its market presence further into the east of France, namely the Franche-Comté, Lorraine and Rhône-Alpes regions.
Activa backed La Maison Bleue in December 2012 in a deal believed to be worth €30m. The company currently operates 90 nurseries with a total of 3,600 places, and employs 1,200 staff.
Company
Founded in 2007, Crèches Baby is headquartered in Anteuil and employs 65 staff. The company was initially founded by automotive industrial group Delfingen.
Crèches Baby currently operates five day-care nurseries, with an additional two planned to open this year. Its current crèches are located at Besançon, Montbéliard, Nancy, Lyon and Belfort.

Pierre Le Moël is the managing director of Crèches Baby, while Sylvain Forestier is the president of La Maison Bleue. Activa partners Olivier Nemsguern and Christophe Parier, as well as investment director Sophie Rouland and investment manager Jean-Baptiste Salvin, led the original acquisition of La Maison Bleue for the firm.
