Orkos, Emertec inject €1.6m into Enerbee

Orkos invested via the Robolution Capital 1 vehicle; the robotics-focused venture fund held a first close on €80m a year ago, with a €100m target. Emertec currently invests via its Emertec 5 vehicle, which held a first close on €50m in Q1 last year.

In addition to the capital increase, Enerbee secured €900,000 in loans from BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole Sud Rhône-Alpes as part of the round.

The fresh capital will be deployed to bolster the company's R&D efforts and to fund the production of its micro-generator.

Company
Established in 2014 in Grenoble, Enerbee is developing an electrical micro-generator designed to replace batteries in connected objects. These include smartwatches and household items connected via the 'internet of things'. The company's generator is designed to recharge itself by harnessing the energy generated by moving objects.

The company has already designed its first generation of generators and is currently working on a second product. It is planning to open a production line in 2016 in France, with the aim of launching its products that year.
