Siparex et al. invest €1m in Calixar
Siparex has taken part in a €1m funding round for existing portfolio company Calixar, a French biotech specialising in antigen isolation technology.
The GP was joined in the round by existing backers Veymont Participations, INPG Enterprise and several regional business angel syndicates, namely Health-Angels Rhône-Alpes, Savoie Angels and Grenoble Angels.
BPI France and Banque Populaire have provided a line of credit to support the funding round.
The capital injection will allow Calixar to begin preparation for licensing out its technology to establish partnerships within the pharmaceutical industry, which is expected to happen by the second half of 2015.
Previous funding
In June 2012, Calixar raised €875,000 in funding from Siparex, Veymont, INPG and the three aforementioned business angel syndicates.
Company
Founded in 2011, Calixar is headquartered in Lyon with partner offices in Philadelphia and Tokyo. It employs 15 staff.
The company's technology is designed to isolate therapeutic targets and antigens, which preserves the native state of membrane proteins.
Its technology allows pharmaceutical companies to begin working with targets or antigens prior to developing antibodies or vaccines.
People
Emmanuel Dejean is the CEO of Calixar. Guilhem De Vregille is an associate director at Siparex Venture Capital.
