Capitem holds €20m first close for maiden fund
French private equity house Capitem Partenaires has held a first close for its maiden fund on €20m.
The GP is aiming for a final close in the region of €30-40m. The FCPR vehicle will have management fees of 2%, with a minimum returns goal of 15%, according to French publication Capital Finance.
Capitem was founded earlier this year and was granted approval by French regulatory body AMF in March. The firm was launched by three partners with a mix of financial and entrepreneurial background: Stéphane Gres and Hervé Letoublon have respectively worked for EPF Partners and Promelys Participations, while Frédéric Fiore was previously a director at nursery group Babilou.
Investors
FCPR Capitem I has so far exclusively received commitments from around 20 entrepreneurs.
Investments
The fund will target businesses with a turnover of up to €50m, the sweet spot being in the €5-20m range. The GP will provide equity tickets of €500,000-3m.
Capitem will look to secure both minority and majority stakes. Besides growth capital, the GP will also invest in LBO transactions with a focus on MBO and OBO deals.
People
Stéphane Gres, Hervé Letoublon and Frédéric Fiore are co-founding partners at Lyon-based Capitem.
