
BC’s Allflex acquires SCR for $250m
The Allflex Group, backed by BC Partners, has wholly acquired US-based SCR Engineers in a deal worth $250m.
BC acquired Allflex in May last year from previous backer Electra Partners in a deal worth $1.3bn. The transaction awarded Electra with an impressive 15x return. Electra then reinvested in the company in July 2013, injecting £57m in exchange for a 15% stake.
Company
SCR develops systems for monitoring cows and farm management. Its systems focus on cow monitoring, milking and herd management. It manufactures electronic milk meters and smart tags for monitoring cow fertility and health.
The business was founded in 1976 and employs 300 people. SCR has offices throughout the US and Europe as well as a presence in China and South America.
Allflex specialises in animal identification and tracking tags for livestock, using visual, electronic and tissue sampling identification technology.
