VC-backed Idéol raises fresh €3.8m
New backers Conseil Plus Gestion (CPG), HPC Capital and Turenne Capital have taken part in a €3.8m round for French wind power business Idéol.
Turenne Capital invested via the Paca Investissement fund. Previous Idéol backers Demeter Partners, Sofimac and Eric Petitjean's family office reinvested as part of the round. The former drew equity from the Demeter 3 Amorçage vehicle, while Sofimac invested via the Emergence Innovation 1 fund.
Besides the equity injection, Idéol also secured €6.3m in debt financing as part of the round. The fresh capital has been earmarked to build and set up Idéol's first offshore windfarm off the coast of France.
Demeter, Sofimac and Soridec provided Idéol with €7m of funding in May 2013. In June 2011, Oséo, private investors, and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research provided a first round of financing for the business, securing a minority stake for €1m.
Company
Founded in 2010, Idéol designs and produces floating foundations for offshore wind farms. It is based in La Ciotat, near Marseille.
