Ekkio Capital backs Compagnie des Vacances
French GP Ekkio Capital, formerly known as Acto Capital, has acquired a 40% stake in online camping sites booking business Compagnie des Vacances.
Compagnie des Vacances's management retains the remainder of the shares.
Ekkio was formerly known as Acto Capital, one of the private equity arms of Groupama. The French insurer sold an 82% stake in the two funds managed by Acto to investment company Luxempart and secondaries specialist Five Arrows Managers at the end of last year. Luxempart also took a 20% stake in the management company, which subsequently span off and was renamed Ekkio Capital. Ekkio's management owns 80% of the business.
Luxempart also agreed to sponsor Ekkio's third fund – the firm had previously raised €83.5m and €90m for its first two captive vehicles. Ekkio is aiming to raise around €100m for the fund, and this latest investment marks the fund's first transaction. The GP targets small-cap primary buyouts valued in the €20-50m range.
