VC-backed Meninvest raises €5.6m
Orkos Capital, 123Venture and Partech International have provided French e-commerce group Meninvest with a €5.6m funding round.
Orkos led the round, while Partech was already invested in the business – the GP took part in a €4.5m round alongside AXA Private Equity in 2010.
Meninvest will use the funds to develop its activity in Europe. The company has recently launched an English version of its sites, and is planning to do the same in Spanish, Italian and German following this latest round.
Company
Meninvest, founded in 2009, is an e-commerce company specialised in products targeting male consumers. Its main site, Menlook, sells clothing and accessories. The group also operates the Estime, Saint-Sens and Timefy e-commerce websites.
Meninvest recently diversified into publishing via the information websites Menly and Autonews.fr. The group also started operating an online advertising platform named Menity. The company is reportedly expecting to post a €10-20m turnover in 2012.
People
Pierre-Yves Meerschman and Dominique Rencurel worked on the deal for Orkos. 123Venture and Partech were represented by Olivier Goy and Philippe Collombel respectively. Orkos's Rencurel and 123Venture's Goy will join the company's board.
