Vendis backs Alexandre de Paris
Vendis Capital Management has taken a stake in the buyout of French hairdressing salon and cosmetics company Alexandre de Paris, in what marks the GP's first investment in France.
Traditionally focusing on the Benelux market, Vendis invested via its maiden fund, which closed on €111.5m at the end of 2010. This is the vehicle's sixth investment.
Vendis provides growth and buyout capital to non-food retail and consumer businesses in Europe, investing between €5-15m per deal.
The buyout of Alexandre de Paris was led by the Bailly Group, which had been the exclusive licensee of the brand prior to the transaction.
Debt
Banque Populaire and Oséo provided financing to leverage the transaction.
Company
Paris-based Alexandre de Paris operates hairdressing salons and produces a range of hair care products as well as related accessories. The brand operates its own stores in Paris, London and Hong Kong. Its distribution is handled by a network of distributors in the rest of Europe, Asia, Russia and South America.
People
Cedric Olbrechts, Jean Cailliau and Mathieu de Medeiros handled the investment on behalf of Vendis. Sébastien Bailly is founder and CEO of the Bailly group.
