IRDInov et al. in €1.5m seed round for aPSI 3D
VCs IRDInov and Cea Investissement have injected €1.5m of seed capital into French high-power modules producer aPSI 3D.
One of aPSI 3D's two newest institutional backers, IRDInov is a seed-focused vehicle set up in 2012 and co-managed by private equity house IRDI and BPI France – the latter having previously invested in the company prior to the round.
Meanwhile, CEA Investissement, which deployed equity via its CEA strategic fund, is CEA's high-tech startup investment arm.
aPSI 3D's first institutional round comes as the startup gears up for a move into manufacturing its power modules.
Having been founded in 2013, the business has since focused on designing and researching after partnerships were sealed with accelerator CEA Tech and institute IRT Saint Exupéry.

Created in 2013, aPSI 3D designs and produces electronic low-inductance high-power modules designed to streamline power inverters and render them more efficient. The startup's devices typically come with a voltage above 300 volts and power capacity above 10 kilo-volt-amps. With headquarters in Tarbes, the company operates additional offices in Toulouse.
People
Patrick Cazeneuve is venture partner at IRDInov, while Laurent Lelait holds the same position at CEA Investissement. Jacques Favre co-founded aPSI 3D and is the company's current CEO.
