Montefiore offloads Auto Escape to Expedia
Expedia has purchased online car rental reservation company Auto Escape Group from Montefiore Investment.
Following the deal, Auto Escape Group will become part of Exepdia's CarRentals.com brand, which is part of the Hotwire Group. Hotwire is a discount travel site that offers deals in 12 countries throughout the US, Europe and Asia.
Previous investment
Montefiore purchased OFI Private Equity's and Vivéris Management's 46.66% stake in Auto Escape in 2009 in an all-equity deal. The share price offer of 280 cents valued the company at €14.6m. Montefiore and management owned 81% of the business.
In September 2011, Montefiore supported Auto Escape's acquisition of German car rental company Car Del Mar.

Henrik Kjellberg is president of Hotwire. Eric Bismuth, Alexandre Bonnecuelle and Daniel Elalouf worked on the original deal for Montefiore.
