Newfund backs Bureau 14
French venture capital firm Newfund has injected $1m into Bureau 14, a Parisian developer of a database management system.
The company plans on using the capital to grow its position in the market of big data. It also intends to use the funds to expand internationally.
The deal marks the 34th investment made by Newfund.
Newfund manages a €72m fund, Newfund 1, which it launched in January 2008 and closed slightly below its €80m target in January 2009, according to unquote" data. The vehicle held a first close on €63m in September 2008.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Paris, Bureau 14 is the developer of Quasardb, a NoSQL (not only structured query language, or not only SQL) database management system designed for demanding or critical environments.

Edouard Alligand is the founder and CEO of Bureau 14. Newfund partner Charles-Antoine Morand worked on the deal for the firm.
