AXA Private Equity raises $8bn for funds-of-funds
Axa Private Equity has secured $7.1bn for its secondaries fund-of-funds and $900m for its primary investment fund-of-funds.
AXA PE predicts a significant increase in activity in the secondary market over the next two years: banks are looking to offload their private equity portfolios, pricing is more acceptable and the firm estimates between $40-50bn of bank assets will come up for sale.
Investors
AXA PE's secondaries fund-of-funds has attracted institutional investors from North America, the Middle-East and Asia – primarily pension funds, government agencies and family offices.
The firm's strategy consists of offering liquidity to large institutions looking to reduce their balance sheets or to reduce their private equity exposure.
Investments
Investments will be targeted in the US and Europe.
