Orange and Publicis launch new VC fund
Orange and Publicis Groupe have announced the launch of IrisNext, a multi-corporate venture capital fund to be managed by Iris Capital.
The vehicle will invest in European startups throughout different stages, focusing on digital technology companies active in the big data, cloud, artificial intelligence, digital and robotics sectors.
The fund will be managed by Iris, with help from German VC Capnamic, and is planning to hold a first close in 2016.
Publicis and Orange each committed €75m to the fund. The founders hope to attract both private and institutional investors as well as public bodies in the field of corporate financing in France and Germany.
IrisNext is not the first fund borne out of the Orange and Publicis alliance. The two corporates have been jointly investing since 2012, with Iris managing the vehicles. They have deployed €300m to date.
