biospace med was founded in 1999 by Georges Charpak together with medical engineers, radiologists and orthopaedic surgeons. The investment will advance the deployment of EOS, a device which can capture 3D body images in a single scan with 10 times less radiation than regular x-ray, in order to take a leading position in the billion dollar orthopedic imaging market. EOS uses a patented particle detector for which Georges Charpak won the 1992 Nobel Prize for Physics. biospace employs around 45 people and has offices in Atlanta and Paris.
