Eqvitec Partners, Telecom Italia Mobile and Telecom Italia Lab sign cooperation agreement
The relationship with Telecom Italia will give our portfolio companies the benefit of TIM’s global market reach and of TILAB’s experience scaling infrastructure, applications and services to a large subscriber base,’ comments Eqvitec’s William Cardwell. TIM’s New Venture Implementation manager Roberto Pradi states: ‘The agreement with this Finnish venture capital company enables us to expand our network of cooperation to a region that plays a pivotal role in the development of technology and services, especially for the wireless market.’ Paolo D’Andrea, manager at TILAB’s Venture Capital Management, says: ‘This agreement, which creates opportunities for joint ventures in the cutting edge of new technologies, is aimed at transferring excellent technology into innovative solutions proposed by the Telecom Italia Group and fully satisfies the requests of the ICT market.’
The partnership was cemented during the first week in February, when a joint seminar was held at the Innopoli Ltd innovation park complex in Espoo. At the seminar, 12 companies were presented to several leading members of Telecom Italia’s New Ventures Group, and ways to develop the companies’ global operations through TIM’s channels were discussed. The next step in the cooperation will take place in March at a meeting of TIM’s global innovation network in Rome.
TIM, the leader in mobile telephony in Italy, has acquired 52.8 million customers throughout the world, 23.3 million of whom are in Italy. TIM operates in Europe, the Mediterranean region and South America.
TILAB is Telecom Italia Group’s company that it uses for scouting, evaluating, developing and managing innovative business opportunities. The company focuses on R&D, corporate venture capital, incubation and the development of ICT skills.
