
Venture-backed IPOs returning
According to data published by VentureOne, 34 venture-backed European companies raised a total of E712m via IPOs in 2004, compared with just E129m raised by nine companies in 2003. This represents the highest number of public listings since 2000, when 178 venture-backed European companies raised E11.8bn. The UK accounted for the majority of these IPOs, with 23 companies raising E409m, whereas Norway recorded the second largest number of deals, with five venture-backed companies raising E46m.
