E80m retail fund to be established in Sweden
A group of Swedish retail professionals is planning to launch an E80m retail fund targeting investments in the Nordic retail sector. The fund's management company firm will be named Retail Private Equity, and expects to invest in 10-12 companies in total. The first fund, RPE Nordic Fund I KB, is currently being marketed to prospective investors and will target mid-large sized firms in the Nordic region. The fund will be headed by Nils Tunebjer, founder of Audumbla Communications Group and former CEO of Garberg's advertising agency; Olle Nordberg, former CFO of Audumbula and syndication manager at Swedbank; Carl Bolinder, M&A manager and formerly an international investment banker with Dillon Read Enskilda in New York, UBS in London, NMR and PwC in Stockholm; and Christel Kinning, who is also the CEO of Swedish clothing retail firm Polarn & Pyret. The firm also expects to recruit two further investment managers in the near future.
