Retail Private Equity to raise E100m
A newly-established private equity firm, Retail Private Equity, is looking to raise E100m for its first fund. The fund has been co-founded by Anders Moberg, the chief executive of food group Ahold, who has personally invested in the fund. The fund is aiming for a first close on E60m in mid-2004, and is targeting both Nordic institutions and fund-of-funds. It is expected that the fund will make between ten and twelve investments in the E2m-E10m size range. Its sector preference will be e-commerce and mail-order companies. Retail Private Equity will focus on developing branding strategies and store concepts in its portfolio companies, and will look to firms specialising in the interior design, gardening, cosmetics, healthcare and accessories segments.
