White & Case has recruited Risto Ojantakanen, a new senior partner for the M&A and Finance team in the Helsinki office, strengthening the transactional practice in Finland and the Nordic region. The Helsinki office has also announced the appointment of Ilkka Aalto-Setälä as local partner. Aalto-Setälä was previously head of the competition practice group in the Helsinki office of White & Case LLP since August 2002. Ojantakanen joins White & Case from the Finnish law firm Roschier Holmberg, where he had been a partner since the beginning of 1991. In more than 20 years in private practice, Ojantakanen has worked on both private and public M&A transactions as well as capital market and other finance matters. At his previous firm, Ojantakanen represented Finnish and international corporate clients and financial institutions in a broad range of M&A transactions, securities offerings and other finance matters. Ojantakanen also has significant expertise and experience in insurance and bankruptcy law. Aalto-Setälä has advised numerous Finnish and foreign clients on transactions and cooperation arrangements with respect to, among others, digital transmission, portals and mobile banking, and has handled a large number of merger notifications to the Finnish Competition Authority and the European Commission.
