Blackstone to acquire Lego theme pa
Danish toy manufacturer Lego is in negotiations with Blackstone Group regarding the sale of its theme park business, according to recent press reports. The deal is believed to be worth an estimated E375m. Lego announced its intention to sell its four theme parks in January this year as part of its strategy to focus on its core competence. According to sources close to the company, six bidders were originally believed to have shown an interest in the business, and five have submitted bids, with Blackstone's the most favourable. Following the transaction, Lego will retain an approximate 10-15% of the business. Lego opened its first theme park in 1968 in Billund and launched a park in the UK in 1996. The group also has parks in Germany and the US.
