Danish venture capital investment on the increase
Quarterly analysis by Vækstfonden (The Danish Growth Fund) and The Danish Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (DVCA) shows that in this year's second quarter approximately E75m has been invested in developing companies. It is the highest investment level in a single quarter since the quarter analyses were introduced about 18 months ago. The analysis also shows a clear trend towards an increase in the size of individual investments - on average E510m in the second quarter compared with E430m in the first quarter. 53% of the investments took place in the medical and health sectors. However, as the total investments are also increasing there is still room for an increase in IT and communications investments compared with the first quarter's level. Based on the analysis, in which all Danish venture companies were surveyed, Rolf Kjærgaard, chief of analysis and development at Vækstfonden, estimates that the investment activity will increase even more during the third quarter.
