Consolidation amongst advisors in the Nordics
In the wake of the accession of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to the EU, three separate groups of law firms have announced regional tie-ups in the Baltics. Finnish firm Roschier Holmberg has entered into a co-operative agreement with three Baltic firms: Raidla & Partners (Estonia), Lejins Torgans & Vonsovics (Latvia) and Norcous & Partners (Lithuania). The new group will provide services under the common brand RoschierRaidla. In a separate development, three Baltic law firms have joined forces to form a new regional firm. Operating under the name Lawin, the combined group was formed by Latvian firm Klavins & Slaidins, Estonian firm Lepik & Luhaäär and Lithuanian firm Lideika Petrauskas Valiunas ir partneriai. Meanwhile, in Latvia, KPMG law firm Petrovs & Taukacs has announced its merger with Sorainen Law Offices. The merger is subject to finalising regulatory issues. The moves come as lawyers report an increasing demand for co-ordinated cross-border advice in the Baltics, particularly in M&A, tax and regulatory matters.
