2M Invest opens new Stockholm office
Having acquired the Finnish venture capital company, Menire, now 2M Invest Finland, in January, 2M Invest has further strengthened its position in the Nordic region by opening a new office in Stockholm. Lars Strinholm, who will head the Swedish office, has among other things, been European manager for Microsoft Enterprise and Intel, as well as vice president of Nokia. In addition to heading the office, Lars Strinholm will also be responsible for the 2M working group that was set up at the beginning of 2001 to establish strategic alliances and partnerships with significant IT companies. Johan Magnusson and Rune Löderup make up the team. They both have strong entrepreneurial backgrounds having established and developed their own companies, as well as having held executive positions within IT and corporate finance. 2M, which is already established in Taipei, San Francisco, Boston, London, Helsinki and Copenhagen, sees the move into Sweden as a natural step. It already has eight Swedish portfolio companies, which should benefit from the move almost immediately. However, the establishment of 2M Invest Sweden is not expected to have any real financial significance for 2M Invest until 2002.
