In good health
How the post-credit squeeze landscape will look is still unclear, but the European market is slowly recovering with banks selling down debt again - albeit at a discount.
The Nordic market is also showing healthy signs. Industri Kapital has raised its largest fund to date with a total value of almost EUR1.7bn; such optimism from one of the Nordic giants is comforting. Ferd Private Equity has listed Pronova BioPharma on Oslo Bors, securing a staggering return for its investors. This listing proves that the Nordic region continues to source good companies, and is one of the most desirable places to be in Europe at the moment (page 44).
The Nordic venture market also seems to have seized the opportunity and stepped up its activities. The attitude among investors is that venture will prove increasingly attractive the longer the buyout market continues to struggle.
The Nordic unquote" Awards 2007 shortlist can be found in this issue (page 19). This year has been a record one for deal-doing; the judges faced a tough decision selecting the winners. I hope you will all be joining me at the Awards dinner on 30 October at the Grand Hotel, Stockholm to celebrate the winners.
Yours sincerely, Linn Ronning
