Finnish newcomer Maki.vc launches with €70m target
Launched in Helsinki, Maki.vc is targeting a fund size of тЌ70m and will invest in Nordic startups.
The fund was founded by former Inventure partner Ilkka Kivimäki along with Pirkka Palomäki, a former executive at F-Secure, a Finnish cybersecurity and privacy company.
Backers of the fund to date include Skype founder Niklas Zennstöm, mobile game development company Supercell's co-founders, Ilkka Paananen and Mikko Kodisoja, and Nokia chair Risto Siilasmaa.
The new fund intends to make 10 investments in 2018, with ambitions to become a prominent Nordic early-stage venture capital firm within the next few years.
Maki.vc's first investments were in medtech firms Disior and Neuro Event Labs, virtual and augmented reality software Glue, and recruiting startup Sumpli.
