Ex-ATP investment manager joins Industriens Pension
Industriens Pension has appointed Michael Dalsgaard to serve as a senior portfolio manager within unlisted investments, including private equity.
The appointment becomes effective in June, and he will report to head of private investments Jan Ostergaard.
In his new role, Dalsgaard would be part of an in-house team, responsible for selecting funds for investments in private equity, infrastructure and real estate. The Danish pension fund has invested 30% of its portfolio to unlisted investments.
Dalsgaard replaces Kasper Struve, who has recently departed from the DKK 174bn pension scheme in order to set up a new venture, aiming to help institutional investors build exposure to private markets.
Dalsgaard joins from ATP Global Direct Investments, where he worked as a senior investment manager and director, focusing on investments in private equity and infrastructure. He has previously worked for KPMG, COWI and PwC.
Industriens Pension has invested 10.9% of its portfolio in private equity. The LP has previously committed to Highland Europe Technology Growth III, Northedge Capital SME Fund I, and Lightstone Ventures II.
The investor has a three-year programme when investing in private equity, and the new programme commenced in January 2019. It plans to invest in 30-35 funds over the three-year period, with an average of 10-12 funds per year.
The private equity portfolio consists of 70% buyouts and 30% venture. The geographical split is 33% Europe, 50% US, 10% global funds and 7% across the rest of the world.
