CVC appoints 3i's former Nordic region MD
CVC has appointed Tomas Ekman, former partner and managing director at 3i in the Nordic region, as partner in the Stockholm office.
Ekman stepped down from his position at 3i in July 2013, alongside David Whileman, partner and managing director, who also resigned to join a smaller private equity operation.
Fredrik Karlsson and Mattias Eklund became co-heads of 3i's Nordic team, replacing Ekman. According to a statement released at the time, the reshuffle came as part of a wider plan to restructure 3i's operations in the Nordic region and reduce headcount in the team.
Ekman joined 3i in 2004. He has more than 20 years' experience in private equity and senior operational executive roles.
CVC's Nordic team has recently completed investments in Paroc and Synsam. The GP listed Matas in June last year, proceeding to a final exit in January.
Earlier this week, unquote" reported that KKR had poached Alejo Vidal-Quadras, 3i's head of Spanish operations.
