
LPX launches index of listed private equity vehicles
An index of UK-listed private equity vehicles has been launched by LPX, the Swiss-based publisher of research and indices on global listed private equity. The launch brings the total number of LPX listed private equity indices, covering global and regional markets and sectors such as ventures, buyouts and mezzanine, to 11.
LPX UK covers vehicles listed on the London Stock Exchange and AIM that have a minimum of 50% of private equity investment. To be included in LPX indices, vehicles must meet certain liquidity criteria and have a minimum market capitalisation of EUR20m. LPX UK currently contains 22 UK listed private equity vehicles with a combined market capitalisation of EUR15bn. These include 3i, Intermediate Capital Group and SVG Capital. The data for these companies has been traced back to 31 December 1998; return on the index since that date is 12.7% per annum, with an annualised volatility of 15.5% and Sharpe Ratio of 0.62.
