Ratos made SEK 363m loss in Q4
Ratos made a net loss of SEK 363m in the fourth quarter of 2012 and expects the downwards trend to continue during the first half of 2013.
The loss before tax stood at SEK 289m, which translated to a SEK 1.14 per share loss. The total return on Ratos's share was -17% in 2012.
Ratos made its largest deal of 2012 with the acquisition of a 32% stake in Norwegian oil services company Aibel. As a consequence of the Aibel acquisition, the board suggested a dividend of SEK 3 per share for the year 2012, down from SEK 5.50 per share the previous year.
Ratos exited Contex AS to Procuritas at the end of November, resulting in a loss of SEK 140m. In October the firm agreed to sell portfolio company Stofa to Danish energy group SE, for a net exit profit of approximately SEK 850m. The sale is expected to complete this month.
Ratos also sold Anticimex and Lindab, whereby an exit gain of SEK 978m was realised. Other deals included Bisnode and KVD Kvarndammen.
Ratos CEO Susanna Campbell commented in the report that market conditions stabilised during Q4. However, due to the firm's exposure to Europe and the Nordics, a continued slump is expected to persist at least during the first half of 2013.
