EUR412m of corporate venture funding raised in 2006
Independent European venture fundraising reached EUR412m in 2006, the highest level since the 2000 boom, according to data collected for EVCA's Corporate Ventur Survey. The industry body released the figures at its tenth annual forum, which took place recently in Stockholm. The figures for independent fundraising topped 2005's levels by 57%. The money put to work also increased by 32%, from EUR430m in 2005 to EUR569m in 2006.
Companies in the UK and France combined accounted for 51% of the total sum invested. As in 2005, France ranked first by value and volume of investments with EUR194m invested in 48 companies. Divestment at cost amounted to EUR224m in 2006, a 71% rise on 2005.
