Polaris buys Akademikliniken from Valedo
Denmark- and Sweden-focused mid-market GP Polaris Private Equity has taken a majority stake in Swedish plastic surgery group Akademikliniken in an SBO from Valedo.
The private equity firm tapped its 2015-vintage DKK 3bn vehicle Polaris Private Equity IV to finance the deal, its first Swedish acquisition in the fund.
Swedish small-cap GP Valedo Partners exits Akademikliniken in the deal, having owned the company since a 2011 MBO made through the PE firm's first fund.
Akademikliniken is the fourth deal made through Polaris's fourth vehicle and sees founders Per Hedén and Jan Jernbeck invest alongside the GP, management and clinic surgeons.
Currently present in Sweden and Norway, Polaris plans to continue the company's expansion and grow its presence in the Nordic region.

Founded in 1991, Akademikliniken is a provider of plastic surgery and aesthetic treatments.
The company is headquartered in Stockholm, with additional hospitals in Malmö, Gothenburg and Oslo, as well as 12 walk-in clinics across Norway and Sweden. It employs a staff of 184.
