
MB Funds acquires Pohjolan Energia
Finnish private equity firm MB Funds has acquired Finnish small-scale solar energy systems provider Pohjolan Energia.
The deal sees MB Funds become a majority shareholder in the solar energy company.
With the fresh capital, Pohjolan intends to support its growth plans in Finland and its international expansion strategy.
MB Funds is currently investing from its latest vehicle, MB Equity Fund V, which held a final close on €236.5m in June 2016. Its fifth Finnish mid-cap vehicle targets lower-mid-cap and mid-market later-stage investments, typically backing assets with turnovers of €20-200m.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Oulu, Finland, Pohjolan operates across Finland and provides rooftop solar energy systems as a turnkey solution through 15 sales offices.
It employs a staff of 150 solar energy professionals and posted a turnover of €20m in 2017.
