
Altor acquires Gnist Barnehager
Altor has acquired a majority stake in Norwegian preschool chain Gnist Barnehager from the founders.
The GP tapped its latest buyout vehicle, Altor Fund IV, for the acquisition.
With the fresh capital, Gnist intends to continue growing the presence of its preschool chains across Norway. The founders will own a minority share in the company and continue to work in the management team alongside Altor partners.
Altor Fund IV held a final close on its target of €2bn in July 2014. The fund was 55% deployed as of October 2017, according to Unquote Data.

Founded in in 2015 and headquartered in Røros, Gnist Barnehagen is a preschool chain. The company currently owns 17 preschools in Norwegian towns Møre & Romsdal, Trøndelag and Hordaland.
