US-based Indigo Partners invests in struggling airline Wow
Indigo Parnters, a US-based private equity firm focused on air travel, has said it is set to buy a stake in Icelandic airline Wow Air.
The news was announced shortly after Icelandair said it had scrapped plans to take over its rival.
Wow has faced financial difficulties in recent months and has cut four aircraft from its fleet.
Indigo Partners has investments in airlines such as Singapore's Tiger Airways, Florida's Spirit Airlines, and Wizz Air Holdings, a listed airline with bases around central and eastern Europe.
Company
Established in 2011, Wow is a low-cost carrier currently serving 25 destinations across Europe and North America. It employs 1,500 staff and has 20 planes.
