Byfounders closes debut fund on €100m
Copenhagen-based VC firm Byfounders has held a final close for its debut fund on its тЌ100m target.
The vehicle was announced in October 2017 and gained the backing of cornerstone investor Vækstfonden, a Danish state-backed fund-of-funds.
Byfounders was founded by managing partners Eric Lagier and Tommy Andersen, both of whom have started and successfully exited VC-backed startups.
It will draw on the support of a network of founders referred to as "the collective", consisting of the founders behind companies including Skype, Kahoot, Zendesk, Unity, Tradeshift, Sitecore and Vivino.
The fund will invest in startups from the Nordic and Baltic regions and support their expansion into the US, specifically Silicon Valley.
Investors
Isomer Capital, Draper Esprit and Digital Garage all backed the fund, as did a number of prominent family offices from around the Nordic region.
Investments
The fund plans to make 30 investments in seed and series-A rounds for startups in the Nordic and Baltic countries. It has already made 12 investments: Corti, Peergrade, Simple Feast, Cobalt, Spiio, SafetyWing, Drugstars, Omnio, Qurasense, Tame, Uizard and one that has not yet been announced.
