
Sponsor Capital sells Plastiroll to trade
Finnish buyout firm Sponsor Capital has sold biodegradable packaging manufacturer Plastiroll to trade buyer Walki Group.
The sale ends a seven-year holding period for the GP, which made the divestment from Sponsor Capital III.
Walki said it will significantly broaden is sustainable packaging offering through the acquisition.
Previous funding
Sponsor acquired Plastiroll in a carve-out from M-real Corporation in 2011. The company employed 70 people and generated sales of €27m at the time.
Company
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Ylöjärvi, Finland, Plastiroll manufactures biodegradable packaging films and bags. It produces polyethylene-coated and laminated packaging materials, including waste bags for kitchen waste bins, shopping bags, food sample bags and bio waste containers. The firm generated a turnover of €30m in 2018 and employs 90 people.
